Two early paintings, 1959, the first from Positano during whitewashing of the walls, the second of the neighbor’s house and bougainvillea in Positano. Mischa Wegner was in his early teens back then but remembered Ruta well. When they met again in Rome 2002 and after, it was Wegner who carried some of Ruta’s early Italian paintings (stored in wooden packing cases in New York for forty years) back to Positano, where Enzo Esposito gave them their first 21st century Italian show. Both of these paintings were included in the Casa Italiana show of Feb 2015.
