View from 9lst floor North Tower World Trade Center painted in spring 2000. Over about a decade groups of artists were given space in communal studios on unrented or under contract but not yet inhabited upper floors of the tower. Some painted the view, others did site specific works, like a pilgrimage to the top of the tower, by the stairs, a difficult climb the artist recorded on video. The work of these artists recorded in a big beautiful book, Site Matters, published by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
