This gouache from 1990 (Arches Paper 20×30) is one of a series of quick views of downtown New York, painted in two or three hours of intensely focussed work. You can find it as the endpaper in a charming book, Greenwich Village Stories, published in 2014 by the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation. It’s a collection of quick riffs by an assortment of Village people over the past forty years, each with an appropriate illustration. And proceeds for the sale go to GVSHP, who are leading the fight to preserve the city’s landmarking laws, as we speak. Find them and more about the book at:
