The painter of all the paintings that follow, sits in repose at lunch in his NY studio in May 2015. In February he turned 97. The photo was taken by a visitor to New York, Dr Rodekamp of the Leipzig Stadtgeschichtliches Museum, that gave Peter a beautiful retrospective show on his 90th birthday in 2008 (see website peterruta.com). Dr Rodekamp is deeply involved in making sure that Germany history is remembered accurately and in detail. He also works with the Cracow museum and oversees such local Leipzig wonders as the attic desk where Schiller wrote his Ode to Joy and the earliest known portraits of J.S. Bach.
