This painting of the Fornillo tower in Positano from September 2014 was the star of the show at NYU Casa Italiana, February 2015 Paintings from Italy Early and Late. This was obviously one of the latest. The earliest from the 1950s when Peter lived in Positano, then a poor fishing village and home to refugees from wars and other catastrophes who found a welcome there. posts to follow also from that show. The Casa Italiana gallery is small but charming and the light off the heavy snow in the garden sparkled and gave the place a distinct atmosphere that repaid the trip through ice and slush and cold to see such summery work.
